The Watson brothers have different ways of solving conflict. Kenny is timid and allows himself to get bullied, for example by Larry. On the other hand, Byron is confrontational and doesn’t get bullied, he bullies others (but he stays in trouble ). Which do you think is better? Why?

  1. I think being Kenny and being timid and allowing himself getting bullied is better. I think that because even though his confident rate is lower than his brother’s… He can change that. It’s better to not bully too, because if you were Byron, you wouldn’t get teased, but you would tease other people. Also, getting teased can make you deal with getting bullied too, it makes it less harsh because I think you would be used to it. This is why I think being Kenny, being timid and allowing yourself to get bullied is better to not get bullied and bully others.

    1. I agree, Lily! People wouldn't necessary like you (unless those people were your best friends) if you bullied others, but allowing yourself to be bullied can always be changed.

    2. I agree with you. You can change your confidence but changing your reputation from teasing would be harder.

  2. I think that Byron’s style is better because it’s ok to fight back sometimes. Besides, if they bully you then you bully them, you really have nothing on you because you were defending yourself. And they started it, so there isn’t much you can get in trouble for. It’s 50-50.

    1. I personally think that Byron seems to bully people even if they haven't and won't do anything to him, like Kenny. Also, I seem to get in trouble for defending myself more than the people who bully me all the time.

    2. I guess... But what if you fight back more than them, and hurt them badly, and then nobody likes you?

    3. does it become a 20-80?

    4. I think Byron bullies to give him something to laugh about not to defend himself. Plus nobody has the guts to bully Byron.

    5. I feel like being 10 and having a 13 year old brother makes be immediately biased toward Byron.

    6. Really I think the best strategy is mind your own business until someone try's to bully you and in that case choose Byron's way.

P.S. sadly that is not a strategy we can choose :(

    7. I agree too because it is better to be bullied rather than to be the one who is getting picked on.

  3. I think that both approaches to bullying may be too aggressive or to timid. But if I had to go with one strategy I would with Kenny's more peaceful fights, unlike Byron who enjoys the brawls between students. I think that Kenny's way of dealing with bullies is slightly better than Byron's because he prefers the least violent way out of things, even though you should stand up to a bully, Kenny's tactics are significantly better than his older brother's.

    1. I agree with you. Both strategies aren't the best but if I had to choose I would choose Kenny's method.

  4. I think that being timid and allowing yourself to get bullied is better because you don’t want to be someone who stays in trouble. When you are always in trouble no one will trust you. What if you’re actually in danger, per say that a band of burglars are chasing you and demanding for your money. You run home and tell your parents. Do you think they’d believe you if you’re ALWAYS in trouble? I didn’t think so. But, if you allow yourself to get bullied, you can change that and stick up for yourself. As you can see, it is easier to be timid and allow yourself to get bullied for the many reasons above.

    2. I completely agree because if you go with Byron's strategy is just going to get in trouble.

  5. I think that Kenny's strategy is better because I would much rather get bullied than be a bully and get in trouble all the time. Although, Byron's strategy is still good because he doesn't get bullied because people fear him. In conclusion, I can't chose between the two and I think both of them are good strategies.

  6. I think Kenny's strategy is better because he is able to keep out of trouble which will lead to better things in life. Bryon's strategy on the other hand will get him into trouble with teachers. That goes on your permanent record you know? Nobody wants “ Troublemaker” on there record. At least I hope so! This is why I think Kenny's strategy is better than By’s.

  7. If I add to choose to be Kenny or Bryon I would be a little bit of both. I would be Kenny because I wouldn’t get in trouble. I wouldn’t be like Kenny and let myself be bullied. I would be like Bryon because I wouldn’t let myself get bullied what I wouldn’t be the bully. One way I wouldn’t be like Bryon is I wouldn’t get in trouble. For example, I would never play with fire. If I add to choose between them and I couldn’t be in the middle I would choose Bryon over Kenny. Mainly because being bullied is a lot worst than getting in trouble. (Unless my mom burned me) Those are the main reasons I would be in between.

  8. I think that Kenny’s is better for one main reason. First, I think his is better because nobody gets hurt. However, Byron is keeping himself from getting hurt but he is not being nice to other people. It do not think that Byron is doing the right thing since he is not being nice.

  9. I think that you have to consider Kenny and Byron's approaches both for how they impact Kenny and Byron themselves, and the effect they have on others. Kenny's willingness to let himself be bullied makes it hard on himself, but he isn't harming anyone else. Byron's approach makes his own life easier in some ways, but many others suffer as a result. Because Kenny's approach doesn't harm other people, I think his way is better.

  10. I think that Kenny's way is better because Byron would protect him. But on the other hand I think Byron's way would be better if he didn't always get himself in trouble because then he would never get bullied and stay out of trouble. This is what I think about their ways.

  11. I think that Kenny's approach to bullying is better.I think this because Byron's just gets him in trouble.Kenny's approach is just letting the problem go and not care about it anymore and nobody gets hurt.

  12. I think Byron's style is better as long as you don't do it too much. If you fight back you can get the right to be left alone. So all you have to do is fight back once to every bully and then you can be left alone and do what you want without being in fear of them bullies.

  13. I think Byron’s way of dealing with bullying is better for some reasons. To begin, he stands up for himself. Standing up for yourself is a good thing to be able to do. I am not saying that you should do it Byron’s way, I just think that you should stand up for yourself. Furthermore, I also think it is good to have to be a little more protective of yourself if you have to, but not as confrontational as Byron. In addition, I also think it is better to be ruder/meaner if you have to stand up for yourself, rather than getting bullied and letting yourself get bullied. These are the reasons why I think Byron’s way of solving conflict is better than Kenny’s.

  14. I think that getting bullied would actually be better. You see Kenny gets more work done because he's not always "busy" bullying, like Byron. This allows Kenny to have more time so he can think about his homework and get great grades. But, Byron spends his time picking on kids younger than him forcing the conclusion of awfull grades. This is why I think Kenny's strategy is better.

  15. I think that Kenny's approach is better than bullying others. Since others are not hurt, it is definitely better. Although, I am not saying Kenny's approach couldn't use some work. I think that he should be less timid to be less of a target. Still, Kenny doesn't hurt others, which might get him friends who are nice to him in return.

  16. Kenny’s way of resolving conflict let’s people bully him and makes life hard on Kenny. Byron’s way of resolving conflict is bullying people it makes life easier for him except leaves many people humiliated, hurt, or both. So, I would rather solve conflict by letting people bully me because I am not someone to bully others.

  17. I think being timid like Kenny is better. I think it is better because you are not as in much trouble all the time. Byron fights back and is known as a juvenile delinquent. By fighting back Byron gets in a lot of trouble. Although being timid will get you beat up, having the god of your school be your brother that might defend you a little bit. I think being timid will get you farther than fighting back and bullying.

  18. I personally believe that Kenny’s way is better, because, even though you are getting bullied, you are not hurting others, which shows selflessness and good character, which are important life traits to have. In Byron’s method sure, you’re not getting hurt, but you are hurting other people, and if I was going to be respected I would rather be respected by not hurting someone then by hurting so many people, including my brother.

  19. I think that Kenny’s strategy is better because you stay out of trouble. You can get bullied, but not get punished for fighting. However, Byron’s fighting back gets him a few bruises and a bad report card, but at least he can get someone back for what the bully did. I think it depends on whether you are an introvert or an extrovert to determine which one would be easiest for you. In conclusion, I think Byron’s strategy, except with words, not fists, would work best for me.

  20. I think that Kenny's way is better than Byron's way of solving conflict because even though Kenny gets bullied a lot I would not like to be someone who is known for bullying and beating up people.

  21. This is a hard question. But I think that (I'm probably going to get a lot of hate from this) not being bullied but being a bully is better. I'm not saying that being a bully is good, I just wouldn't want to be bullied, because I don't know what it feels like, it could be bad.

  22. I think Kenny's way is better because of three reasons. First, he doesn’t get in trouble at the end of the day. Whereas, Bryon does get in trouble at the end of the day. For example, I bet Byron’s mom found out what happened with him and Larry. But you do need to stand up for yourself sometimes and Bryon has that. Second, Kenny has some nice friends because he is himself. Whereas, Byron has to be tough to get friends. Finally, Kenny has a more likely to not go to prison in his life or get in trouble because if he continues his life as the way he does now he will have a bright future. But he still can go to prison.

  23. I think Kenny’s strategy is better because it doesn’t hurt anybody. While Byron’s strategy might have a trail of people beat up, humiliated, or just plain up sad, Kenny’s way of defending himself doesn’t hurt anybody. Of course, it hurts himself, but it is better than hurting anyone else. However, Kenny’s strategy still has a way to go to being the best strategy. Also, Kenny’s strategy is better because he doesn’t get in trouble like Byron does.

  25. I think I would be like Byron. I think that because it is ok to stand up for yourself. When you get bullied by a bigger person I would either hit him back or run. I would run because I would probably outrun him.

  26. I believe that Kenny’s way of dealing with conflict is better for many reasons. First reason why his way is better is, he doesn’t cause more conflict. Bryon makes a big deal of it and Kenny just lets it be so it doesn’t become a bigger problem. Also, Kenny is not being a bully like Byron. Being a bully is worse than getting bullied in my opinion. Lastly, Kenny is trusted and people think good things of him (other than the mean kids). He has this good reputation because he isn’t always causing trouble, getting into fights, and hurting kids. This is why I think Kenny’s way is better to solve problems.

  27. I think that you need to have a little of both. You need a little of both because you want to stick up for yourself, but you don’t want to become a bully. This would be a good mix because you can stand up for yourself but also make sure that you don’t get picked on. I would like to be both then just one. As you can see i think that a little of both would be better.

  28. In my opinion, Byron's way is better, not all of the elements of it, like the bullying part, but the part where he defends himself, and stands up for himself, but if it's a package deal, than I think Kenny's way is superior because otherwise your only friends end up being people like Buphead. To me friends are very important, and if my only friends were bullies, I would be pretty misrable.

  29. I think that Kenny is better. I think this because he can ask Byron for help if he is bullied but he still stays out of trouble. Or he could tell a adult about the bullies. On the other hand Byron gets in trouble all of the time for his bullying.

  30. I think that Kenny’s custom is superior to Byron’s in many ways. This is my belief because Kenny’s custom for handling bullying does not consist of harming others. (except for of course myself) Byron’s would be superior because he confronts the bully, however, his plan, instead of hurting just one person, hurts multiple people and can get me into even worse trouble than I was in before. This is why I believe that Kenny’s custom is far superior to Byron’s.

  31. I think Kenny’s approach is better because he does not choose to hurt people or embarrass them like Byron. However I do not think that Byron and Kenny are as different as everyone thinks. On the outside Kenny is timid and Byron is a bully, but on the inside they are both caring and kind. An example of this was when Byron chose to bury the bird after hitting it with the cookies. He also showed his tender side by defending Kenny against Larry. The difference though is that Kenny would never put his hands on or hurt someone even if they are mean to him. But Byron does.

  32. I think that Kenny's approach to solving conflict is better. It seems like Kenny understands people, and what motivates them. He's able to avoid conflict, and also to think compassionately about the needs of others. Kenny is able to make real true friends, like Rufus, whereas Byron seems to have only one friend -another bully. Byron seems to be motivated by self-interest and anger and that doesn't make it easy for him to have friends.
